Musicians Interviews (Abank Iman Brata, Indonesia)

Halo Lads! This is musicians interviews, next musicians to be interviewed is none other my own twin brother, Abank, Guitarist extraordinaire, stage antics and sometime shredding out his guitar or just ballad with his acoustic and surprisingly can sing too!
so we won't be long here is the interview with him.

Welcome to my blog, please describe yourself.

My name is Abang Sulaiman Kramadibrata but known as Abank Iman Brata, I am a Scorpio, I am teaching guitar, bass and basic keyboards. I graduate from Indonesia Music Institute in 2004 and I've been teaching ever since.

How do you get into music?

I get into music from my uncle (our uncle, lol) records collection. I remember from very early age I woke up to "Obladi Oblada" by The Beatles blasting very LOUD from my uncle room, and then I picked up the guitar 'cos I saw Led Zeppelin video, for me watching Jimmy Page is very magical moment.

Who is musicians that influence you or role model?

My influence in music is mostly Jazz musicians, I don't know why, but I really love Chet Baker, I can hear his life through the notes He played, and of course I listen to all genre, I am kinda open minded to all music I heard, I give everything I hear a chance.

What Instrument do you play and have?

I play electric and acoustic guitar, bass, a little bit piano and drums, singing as well. The brand didn't matter for me, as long is not broken, and have good quality.
I have Cort semi hollow and Tanglewood acoustic guitar and GT-1 effect Boss pedals, that will do the work.

What band are you in right now?

I played in The Indonesian Beat Club, a beatles tribute band.

Why do you love JAZZ?

Although I don't play Jazz on stage, I'm very into improvisation, people think I am a rocker because I play wild and loud distorted guitar sound, but at home I play Jazz music and of course I can play Jazz standard. There is spmething in Jazz that makes me better musicians, little harmony and how to play around complex chord changes. Sometimes I play Jazz licks through the distorted guitars! HA!

What albums that changed your life or influence you?

 1. A Hard days night (The Beatles)

 2. MCMLXXXIV (Van Halen)

 3. Giant Steps (John Coltrane)

 4. Led Zeppelin IV (Led Zeppelin)

 5. Passion and Warfare (Steve Vai)

 6. Standards (Mike Stern)

 7. Secret Story (Pat Metheny)

 8. Jaco (Jaco Pastorius)

 9. MTV Unplugged (Eric Clapton)

 10. Nevermind (Nirvana)

How many albums, singles or project do you play in?

I play in jingles music, for Radio and Television. actually i became famous in my campus because of the tea commercial, where I play a lot of wah effect on guitar, funky rythm guitar, I also produced local indie singer and her single can be heard on digital stream (spotify) her name is Tiara Yumara and also I released my own records (in spotify) "The kids monster" and "Music from lost Island"

What do you want to say to other fellow musicians around the globe?

Keep on playing and write your own stuff.

What is your biggest achievement so far?

- Played in the Cavern Liverpool and walking across Abbey Road.
- I have been blessed touring around the world, Toronto Canada, Buenos Aires Argentina, Liverpool England and hopefully Germany next year.
