Musicians Interviews (Estuardo Mendoza Paz, Guatemala)

This is my Interview with musicians from all around the world. First is my friend from Guatemala!
Estuardo Mendoza, But I call him Coplas, we met at The Cavern Buenos Aires Argentina in December 2018, when He was playing drum with his incredible band, The Rubber Souls. He is very intelligent man and His knowledge of music is incredible.

Here is Stuart with The Rubber Souls, He is second from right raising His hand.

First of all, please describe yourself
Estuardo Mendoza Paz, born in Guatemala City in January 13th 1973. Shy, but ongoing person. I would not stop from doing things, but sometimes, through thinking them much over, have lost chances. I value history on everything, becoming a good way of entertainment. Child of the seventies, adolescent of the 80s and  university student from the 90s, I am 46 years old, and hopefully counting.

How do you get into music? How long have you been playing?
I get most of my entertainment from it, to the point where playing music gets me closer to what I already enjoy about it. I have been playing since I bought my bass, and it was 1995. Then I sat in on an abandoned stool (drummer suddenly left that day), when I just got to visit a good friend of mine. This friend was rehearsing with the guys with whom I was about to form my first cover band. I just knew the songs, even though I had never played in a band, but had years of air drumming experience.

Do you have favorite musicians that you look up to? Role model?
Geddy Lee from Rush, he is so earthed and very honest about his art.

What instruments do you play and have?
Had just one bass guitar, a Peavey foundation, maple neck. Two sets of drums, my first, a Tama Swingstar,  and a Pearl Export Series. I am very unaware of quality and finess on those things. I was taught that "it is the indian, not the bow."

What band are you playing now?
The Rubber Souls (Beatles stuff), Vehículo (rock roots and heavy rock), Estéreos (Eagles cover band), mainly.

What do you think about music scene today?
Corresponds to the way information is transmitted today. With few parts, few sounds, and a lot of feature on the non-player performer.

Can you named 5 (or more) albums that changed your life or really influence you?
Kiss - Dynasty

Wings - London Town

The Police - Synchronicity

Metallica - The $5.98EP Garage Days Re-Revisited

Slayer - South Of Heaven

Megadeth - Rust In Peace

Led Zeppelin - Led Zeppelin

Rush - Signals

Pink Floyd - The Dark Side Of The Moon

The Who - Tommy

How many albums or singles do you play in?
Bass - Extraña Procedencia (album), recorded 1997, never published
Drums - none

What do you want to say to fellow musicians around the world?
If you enjoy what you do, you should just worry about not doing it anymore. Everything else comes along.

What is your biggest achievement?
seeing my son Salvita enjoy music so much !!
