Musicians Interviews (Diego Souto, Argentina)

Welcome lads! This is musicians interview, today we interviewing Diego Souto, talented and really funny guy, but on stage He is "monster!". I knew Diego from my Uncle Adi, who play guitar in The Indonesian Beatclub, and met Him personally in front of Broadway Hotel in Buenos Aires, December 2018, I tell you, when we met I definitely said "ROCKSTAR IS COMING!" we are smokers but He didn't like Indonesian cigarette (LOL),  now here's what His insight about being musician.

Hi Diego, would you please describe yourself.

Hi Buddy, Thanks for having me in your blog! I was (not) born Diego Souto in 1982 and I'm a Singer, Guitarist, Bassist and Producer from Buenos Aires, Argentina. Currently I sing and play bass in a Beatles tribute band called Diego Souto and The Revolvers. I also play solo acoustic sets and I'm very busy producing records for other bands.

How do you get into music? How long have you've been playing?

After listening to Kiss Unplugged in 1996 I felt a strong desire to sing and play guitar. That was the first time music gave me the chills... I needed to do that thing they were doing! I started to play guitar right away and haven't stopped since then!

Who is your favorite musicians that you look up to? or you consider is your role model?

Tons! Of course the first one is Sir Paul McCartney, but Paul Stanley from Kiss comes pretty close to me. I am a big fan of Elvis Presley, Tom Jones, Jon Bon Jovi, David Gilmour, Brian May..... The list goes on and on!

What instruments do you play and what you have?

Ok, Let's say I play Guitar, Bass, Drums and Keyboards, but I really suck playing drums (Though I love playing it and don't have plans to stop!) and Keyboards. I've got two gorgeous Hofner Club Basses that I love to death! I also own two acoustic guitars: Taylor and Fender, and a Gibson Les Paul Studio.

What band are you playing now?

Diego Souto and The Revolvers is my main project right now. We're touring a lot in Argentina and we've been blessed with the chance to perform at The International Beatle week Liverpool 2018, Beatles Music Fest in Hammond, USA this year (2019) and soon starting our first South American Tour in Brazil and Uruguay.
I also play a lot by myself but I'm doing it less since The Revolvers are playing so much. Finally, there's a lot going on with my own material but it's on the works.

What do you think about music scene today?

Well.... I think it's a blessing and a curse. Anyone with an instrument and a computer is able to be out there and share his music with the world, which is great... on the other hand, and being so easy to put your music out... I think people are being exposed to lots of weak material. I also think that most people does not listen to a full album anymore and I miss that. (believe me Diego, I miss it too!)

Can you named albums that changed your life, influence you to the bone?

Wow, OK, I'll try!

1. Kiss Unplugged (Kiss)

2. Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band (The Beatles)

3. Permanent Vacation (Aerosmith)

4. Van Halen (Van Halen)

5. Bounce (Bon Jovi)

6. Off the ground (Paul McCartney)

7. Innuendo (Queen)

8. AB III (Alter Bridge)

9. Machine Head (deep Purple)

10. Oddessa (Bee Gees)

How many albums or singles do you play in or produced?

Four full albums and many singles. As a producer I was involved in at least 10 albums and a couple more in the works as we speak.

If I am not wrong, are you left handed? Because I saw you play drums open handed (left hand on Hi Hats, right hand on snare)

Good Observation! Yeah, I'm a lefty, back in the 90's I wanted to learn how to play guitar and the only one available was my sister's. I asked if I could flip the strings but she said no, so I had to learn as a right handed. Playing bass in a Beatle band and not being able to play left handed is such a shame!
I "learned" how to play drums as a lefty. So, Whenever I'm able to play drums in a right handed kit, I would play with open hands, but as you were able to see, I really suck anyway!

[note: Famous musicians who is lefty but playing his instrument as a right handed some of them is Ringo Starr (Beatles), Joe Perry (Aerosmith), Noel Gallagher (Oasis).

What do you want to say to fellow musicians around the world?

It's amazing for me to have the chance to have so many friends around the world, thanks to music. I mean, right now I'm being interviewed by a dear friend from Indonesia! Who would have thought that 20 years ago?
So let's keep sharing music with the world, let's stay united, let's do more things together.

What is your biggest achievement so far?

I am really proud to do what I love against all odds! Besides that, the biggest achievement is always the one to come.
